The N.Y. Times Story explores questions of privacy and ownership in an age when people publish photographs on social media.

Many companies use pictures pulled from social media as way to connect with their customers, and to save on the cost of traditional advertising campaigns, reported the New York Times.

Companies do not yet have consistent policies about seeking permission to use these photos, worrying some of the people who take or post these photos, the paper explained.
